Protection Advisory Board in accordance with the City of Albuquerque Ordinance 2-6-8-4.

Dr. Kerry J. Howe January 7, 2026 Albuquerque, NM 87111 Dr. Kerry J. Howe has over 35 years of experience in the water treatment industry including both consulting and academic experience, is a registered professional engineer, and is board certified by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists. He was a professor in environmental engineering at the University of New Mexico and was the Director of UNM's Center for Water and the Environment until he retired from UNM in 2022. Before that, he worked for engineering consulting firms as a design engineer for water treatment plants. He is now self-employed as the owner of Howe Water Science, LLC, a specialty consulting firm focused on addressing water quality and water treatment challenges. He has conducted extensive research on water treatment technologies. He is the lead author of the textbook Principles of Water Treatment and a co-author of the book Stantec's Water Treatment: Principles and Design, the two most prominent textbooks in the field of water treatment. His degrees in civil and environmental engineering include a BS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an MS from the University of Texas at Austin, and a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. A resident of Council District 8, Dr. Kerry J. Howe will fill an at-large position as the Joint City of Albuquerque/Bernalillo County representative replacing Mr. Joel C. Wooldridge; his first term will expire on January 7, 2026. |
