Ms. Melinda Ann Montoya Albuquerque, NM  87107

April 1, 2028

Melinda Montoya is a public health professional, licensed physical therapist, and community advocate focused on advancing equitable, evidence-based transportation policy in Albuquerque. Her combined clinical and public health background provides a strong understanding of how the built environment impacts safety, mobility, and health outcomes. Through her work as a physical therapist, she has supported individuals with mobility challenges, informing her commitment to universal design, ADA accessibility, and safe, connected transportation networks.  Following the preventable death of her daughter, Kayla Regan Vanlandingham, at an unprotected crossing, Ms. Montoya has dedicated herself to improving roadway safety and accountability. She approaches transportation through a public health and disability justice lens, emphasizing injury prevention and equity in infrastructure investment. She brings persistence, analytical rigor, and a commitment to translating lived experience into policy to help build a safer, more accessible city for all residents.

A resident of Council District 7, Ms. Montoya will fill a vacancy and serve as the Northeast representative on the Committee; their first term will expire April 1, 2028.
