Mr. Abram A. Sanchez was elected by the permanent City of Albuquerque employees through an electronic election held April 13, 2026, through April 17, 2026, to serve as a representative of Labor on the Personnel Board.
Mr. Sanchez's commitment to the City of Albuquerque began in childhood, shaped by family members who dedicated their careers to public service. He recalls visiting his father at Solid Waste, where he developed an early appreciation for the essential services that keep the community safe, clean, and functioning.
Mr. Sanchez participated in the City's Summer Youth Program during high school, working with both Parks and Solid Waste. After graduation, he began his career as a Laborer with the Solid Waste Department's Clean City Division. Through hard work, perseverance, and the guidance of exceptional mentors, he advanced through nine promotions over the course of his career.
His experience spans a wide range of operational and leadership responsibilities, from ground-crew work and refuse collection to ultimately serving as Superintendent of the Clean City Division. In that role, he oversaw critical city functions including graffiti abatement, weed and litter control, median maintenance, encampment response, and highway cleanup. These responsibilities provided him with a deep understanding of municipal operations, workforce dynamics, and the importance of effective labor relations.
