Amending R-24-22 To Extend The Two-Year Policy Of FasTrax Permitting Eligibility For Housing Projects In Centers And Corridors And Development Projects Within Metropolitan Redevelopment Areas (Baca)

WHEREAS, there is a demonstrated housing crisis across the country that is also impacting Albuquerque due to lack of available housing units; and
WHEREAS, the pilot program established through R-24-22, which created a streamline permitting process for new housing units in certain centers, corridors and MRAs was a large success that saw the efficient processing time of many new housing units; and
WHEREAS, prioritizing site plan approvals and construction permitting processes for development projects aimed at creating permanent housing will help to address housing affordability challenges; and
WHEREAS, due to the success of the pilot program, it was considered important to extend the pilot program period for two more years to ensure the expedient review of certain housing developments.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
SECTION 1. TIMELINE EXTENSION. The original period of 2-years for the pilot program established by Section 2 of R-24-22 is hereby extended by 2 years from the effective date of this Resolution.
SECTION 2. SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. If any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, word or phrase of this Resolution is for any reason held to be invalid or unenforceable by any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of this Resolution.
