Pursuant to the provisions of ? 9-4-1-5 of the Police Oversight Ordinance, City Council staff shall submit recommendations for appointments to the Civilian Police Oversight Advisory Board. City Council staff recommends the appointment of Mr. Ricardo Reichsfeld the Civilian Police Oversight Advisory Board. His initial three-year term is set to begin with this appointment to the Board. Following the expiration of his first term, he is eligible for a second three-year appointment

Ricardo Reichsfeld is a long-standing Albuquerque resident and court-accredited Spanish-English interpreter with more than fifteen years of professional experience in civil rights, due process, and language access matters. He owns and operates a New Mexico-based interpretation services business, providing professional interpretation in family court and child custody proceedings for the Children, Youth and Families Department. His work demands strict neutrality, precision, and adherence to ethical and legal standards in cases involving vulnerable populations.
Mr. Reichsfeld is an alumnus of the Albuquerque Police Department Citizens Academy, the DEA Citizens Academy, and additional state and federal law enforcement outreach programs, through which he gained direct exposure to constitutional policing principles and civilian accountability frameworks. He has also served as a member of the Foothills Community Policing Council, where he engaged in direct dialogue between residents and APD and contributed to recommendations for departmental policy and practice.
