APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT FUNDS FROM THE NEW MEXICO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, 2025 LT FRED BEERS III HONOR GUARD DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM FOR EQUIPMENT NEEDED BY THE ALBUQUERQUE FIRE RESCUE HONOR GUARD AND PROVIDING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE ALBUQUERQUE FIRE DEPARTMENT IN FISCAL YEAR 2026.
WHEREAS, Albuquerque Fire Rescue Honor Guard performs flag presentations at promotional ceremonies, cadet graduations, and City of Albuquerque events; and
WHEREAS, Albuquerque Fire Rescue Honor Guard renders firefighter honors at funeral and memorial services of fallen firefighters, both locally and nationally; and
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque is desirous of appropriating for these funds to assist with replacement of worn uniforms and to acquire needed equipment to perform these duties.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
Section 1. That Council hereby approves and authorizes Albuquerque Fire Rescue Department to accept the grant appropriation from the New Mexico Department of Public Safety, 2025 Lt. Fred Beers III Honor Guard Distribution Program in the amount of $6,387.04 for the period of July 1, 2025, through April 30, 2026, and its submission and filing of the award with the appropriate official or office of the New Mexico Department of Public Safety is in all respects approved.
