AMENDING THE CITY OPERATING BUDGET LANGUAGE TO CLARIFY THE INTENT OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO IMPLEMENT A COMPREHENSIVE ZERO FARE PILOT.
WHEREAS, the Mayor and the Council adopted R-21-147, an operating budget for the City of Albuquerque of which $3,000,000 is a non-recurring allocation for the purpose of continuing a Free Fare program for ABQRide through June 30, 2022; and
WHEREAS, the language designating $3,000,000 for a Free Fare Program requires clarification that the funding is for the purpose of implementing a pilot project to provide free fares for all riders; and
WHEREAS, City Code of Ordinances § 2-11-15 “Budget Amendments By Council During Fiscal Year” authorizes the Council, by its own initiative, to amend the budget during the fiscal year to which it applies upon completion of a public hearing prior to the meeting at which action is taken on the proposed amendment, and that no amendment to the budget shall result in total authorized expenditures that exceed resources to be available for the fiscal year to which the budget is applicable.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
Section 1. That the language adopted in R-21-147 on page 6 lines 19 and 20 is replaced with the following language:
“Of this amount, $3,000,000 is a non-recurring allocation for the purpose of implementing a Zero Fare program for ABQRide through December 31, 2022, for all categories of fares.”
