body

I am submitting for your advice and consent the following name for appointment to the

Metropolitan Parks and Recreation Advisory Board in accordance with the City of Albuquerque

Ordinance 10-5-3.

APPOINTEE NAME                                                      TERM Mr. Scott A. Smith                                                             September 30, 2022 3300 Chelwood Road NE Albuquerque, NM 87111   A native of Monticello, Indiana, Mr. Scott Smith moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2017 following 11 years of service as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army. Despite never having visited Albuquerque prior to becoming a resident, Scott knew the location had enormous potential due to its low cost of living, cultural diversity, and abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities. He is happy to report the city did not disappoint. Scott strongly believes that one of ABQ's greatest assets is how easily residents can access spaces to enjoy New Mexico's mountains, sunsets, blue skies, and fresh air. As the density of urban population’s increases, the maintenance and improvement of the city's numerous parks will only become more important to preserve the city's natural beauty, provide environments for local wildlife to thrive and coexist with humanity, and distinguish Albuquerque from other metro areas. Mr. Smith hopes that his professionalism, maturity, and respect for nature will allow his efforts as a member of the CABQ Metropolitan Parks & Recreation Advisory Board to benefit and preserve District 8 parks for current and future generations of its residents.   A resident of Council District 8, Mr. Smith will represent the district on this Board and his first term will expire September 30, 2022.
