I am submitting for your advice and consent the following name for appointment to the
Albuquerque Museum Board of Trustees in accordance with the City of Albuquerque Ordinance
10-4-1-4.

Mr. Donald Couchman July 31, 2022 6441 Concordia Road NE Albuquerque, NM 87111 Mr. Couchman has a complex and diverse background. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master's Degree in American History with an emphasis on the West. Both of these disciplines required a strong application of critical thinking. He has an appreciation for many existing areas of the Museum's interests, especially the Southwest. Prior to moving to Albuquerque he conducted several history related southwest tours and delivered many programs to various civic organizations. He worked extensively with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to document the history of several areas of New Mexico public lands and authored the BLM published Cooke's Peak - Pasaron Por Aqui. Since moving to Albuquerque in 2001 he has been involved in community issues as the leader of his Academy Hills Park Neighborhood Association and of the District 8 Coalition of Neighborhood Associations. These roles have given him extensive experience interfacing with various City officials and leaders. He also served on one of Mayor Martin Chavez's sustainable Enhancement Teams. He served in both the Metropolitan Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and the Open Space Advisory Board where he was able to help improve board activities through his then active membership in the Albuquerque Parliamentarian Unit. He also chaired the Tri-Centennial History Task Force. He has attended many of the Museum's special and regular exhibits and has expressed that these are essential to the cultural health of the Albuquerque community. A resident of Council District 8, Mr. Couchman will represent his district on the Board and his first term will expire July 31, 2022. |
