Mr. Joel Trujillo December 31, 2021 2200 Lester Drive NE, Apartment 269 Albuquerque, NM 87112-2649 Joel Trujillo, is native New Mexican, born in Albuquerque, NM, raised in northern New Mexico, graduated high school in Alamogordo, NM, and is a first generation college graduate, from the University of New Mexico. Mr. Trujillo, currently is employed with Presbyterian Health services, where he garnered a new-found interest and passion for community health and well-being. He currently works in the Urology departments of the organization, and has been employed with the company for a year and a half. Mr. Trujillo, has always had an eclectic and artistic nature. Always drawn to art, music, and culture; he too is an artist in his own right. Trujillo, has always been interested in social activism, since being an undergraduate student. Mr. Trujillo, has interned for the Democratic Party of New Mexico, has served local, district and state roles of leadership with LULAC - the largest & oldest Hispanic civil rights organization in the nation. Mr. Trujillo, current serves the second highest position within New Mexico LULAC, as the Deputy State Director; has been a member for almost 11 years. He too has also lobbied and interned for several legislative sessions in Santa Fe, and personally to him, he advocates for social awareness and promotion for mental health amongst men - specifically Hispanic men from rural and urban communities in the state. One of his goals is to participate in local organizations that put focus on mental health awareness, and to end the stigma and toxic culture, society has placed on men (machismo culture). Mr. Trujillo, is also a strong social advocate for other marginalized communities, as well. Mr. Trujillo, hopes to bring his skills and ideals to the table and work with an outstanding board of members who share his passion in promoting Albuquerque as a haven for safety, inclusion, health, wealth, and prosperity. A resident of Council District 7, Mr. Trujillo will fill a vacant at-large position on the Board and his first term will expire December 31, 2021. |
