I am submitting for your advice and consent the following name for appointment to the
Metropolitan Parks and Recreation Advisory Board in accordance with the City of Albuquerque
Ordinance 10-5-3.

APPOINTEE NAME TERM Ms. Valerie L. Martinez September 30, 2023 3112 Camino Real Court NE Albuquerque, NM 87111-5606 Valerie Martinez is a community facilitator, arts administrator, and retired academic with over thirteen years of non-profit management and consulting experience and 23 years of college/university teaching in literature and interdisciplinary studies. She is the Chair of the Bernalillo County Arts Board, a founding member of the Albuquerque Poet Laureate Program, and Director of History and Literary Arts at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Martinez is also a professional poet and served as the second Poet Laureate for the City of Santa Fe. Albuquerque has been her home since 2005. A resident of Council District 8, Ms. Martinez will serve in an At-Large position on the Board and her first term will expire September 30, 2023. |
