I am submitting for your advice and consent the following name for appointment to the
Joint Air Quality Board in accordance with the City of Albuquerque Ordinance 9-5-1-3.

Lauren was born and raised in Santa Fe. She graduated from Mora High School in 1999 and went on to the University of New Mexico to a earn a Bachelor of University Studies Degree in Intercultural Communication, which included field research with urban and rural youth in post-civil war Guatemala. During her undergraduate studies at UNM, she worked full-time advocating for education, housing, and immigrant families in low-income neighborhoods as a bilingual community organizer in Albuquerque. Between 2006-2010, she completed a Master's degree in Globalization Studies at Dartmouth University. She subsequently continued work in the San Francisco Bay Area. Lauren returned to New Mexico in 2015, and along with getting re-established in ABQ, has been involved in several community efforts in the last couple of years such as serving as a member of the steering committee for the Albuquerque Women's Rally in 2017 and serving on the board of the Huning Castle Neighborhood Association. Ms. Meiklejohn has disclosed that she is related to Mr. Douglas Meiklejohn of the New Mexico Environmental Law Center (NMELC) and confirmed that she would recuse herself from any issues brought to the Board involving Mr. Meiklejohn or the NMELC.

A resident of Council District 2, Ms. Meiklejohn will serve as a City of Albuquerque representative on the Board, replacing Mr. Idelier H. Mack who has resigned. Ms. Meiklejohn will serve a partial term expiring April 1, 2020.
