APPROVING THE ATTACHED GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE FY2019 HAZARDOUS MATERIALS EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS GRANT IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE US DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND PIPELINE AND HAZARDOUS MATERIALS SAFETY ADMINISTRATION WITH THE NEW MEXICO DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY AND PROVIDING FOR AN APPROPRIATION TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT IN FISCAL YEAR 2019.
WHEREAS, the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management are distributing funds to eligible entities; and
WHEREAS, the Albuquerque Fire Department will use this grant to provide education and hands-on equipment training to learn about the City’s capabilities and limitations before a real world event; and
WHEREAS, grant funds in the amount of $27,095 for this purpose are available to the City of Albuquerque from the FY19 Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Grant; and
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque desires to accept these funds, which require a $9,032 cash match and is available in the General Fund.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
Section 1. That the application with the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management for the amount of $27,095 in Federal Funds is hereby approved, and its acceptance and filing with the appropriate official or office is and in all respects approved.
Section 2. That funds in the amount of $36,127, consisting of $27,095 in federal monies from the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and $9,032 cash match from the Transfer to Operating Grants Fund (265) program in the General Fund (110), are hereby appropriated to the Fire Department in the Operating Grant Fund 265 for Fiscal Year 2019.
