Authorizing The Mayor To Execute A Contract Agreement With The W.K. Kellogg Foundation For The Running Start For Careers Initiative And Providing An Appropriation To The Department Of Family And Community Services Beginning In FY17 (Peña, by request)

AUTHORIZING the Mayor to Execute a Contract Agreement with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation for The RUNNING START FOR CAREERS INITIATIVE and Providing an Appropriation to the Department of Family and Community Services beginning in FY17.

WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque provides and has as one of its functions the administration of quality economic development programs; and  

WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque has applied for these grant funds from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation; and

WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque desires to receive these funds in order to provide entrepreneurs with community navigators, shared governance, and data equity for the Albuquerque Integration Initiative.  

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:

Section 1.                     Exhibit “A”, a contract agreement including a proposed budget for receiving funds from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, specifying amounts totaling Two Hundred Thirty Seven Thousand Dollars ($237,000) to fund industry specific split cost internships, program promotion and evaluation as per the W.K. Kellogg Foundation grant is hereby approved.    

Section 2.                      That the Mayor is further authorized to execute an amended contract agreement with the W. K. Kellogg Foundation for said activities and do all things necessary and proper to implement the program. 

Section 3.                     That funds of Two Hundred Thirty Seven Thousand Dollars ($237,000) consisting of W.K. Kellogg Foundation contract funds are hereby appropriated to the Department of Family and Community Services for The Running Start for Careers in Fiscal Year 2017. 

Section 4.                     That from the Two Hundred Thirty Seven Thousand Dollars ($237,000) in Section 3, Two Thousand Two Hundred Seventeen Dollars ($2,217) are for indirect costs at a rate of 13.70% and hereby made part of this resolution.
