MOVING THE OFFICE OF NEIGHBORHOOD COORDINATION FROM THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT TO THE COUNCIL SERVICES DEPARTMENT; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION.
WHEREAS, the Office of Neighborhood Coordination currently operates within the Planning Department, but works closely with the Council Services Department; and
WHEREAS, the City currently has over 230 registered neighborhood associations and homeowners associations, 160 of which are neighborhood associations in compliance with the Neighborhood Recognition Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the importance of neighborhoods and desires to strengthen services provided to neighborhood associations; and
WHEREAS, the Office of Neighborhood Coordination is more closely aligned with the duties and functions of the Albuquerque City Council than any other department in the City; and
WHEREAS, prioritizing and strengthening the services provided by the Office of Neighborhood Coordination is a natural extension of the existing role of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the Office of Neighborhood Coordination will continue to work closely and coordinate with the Planning Department in order to ensure that this change will not negatively affect the efficiency of the Planning Department's One-Stop Shop; and
WHEREAS, the Council, therefore, finds that it is in the best interest of the citizens of Albuquerque that the Office of Neighborhood Coordination be moved to the Council Services Department.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
