APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF STATE OF NEW MEXICO LITTER CONTROL AND BEAUTIFICATION GRANT FUNDS, A GRANT UNDER THE NEW MEXICO LITTER CONTROL AND BEAUTIFICATION ACT WITH THE NEW MEXICO STATE TOURISM DEPARTMENT; AND PROVIDING FOR AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque has as one of its goals to accomplish litter control and beautification activities; and
WHEREAS, the New Mexico Litter Control and Beautification Act of 1985 provides, through the State Tourism Department, a Litter Control and Beautification Section for the allocation of public funds in the form of grants for the purpose of enhancing local litter control and beautification programs; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds in the amount of $71,000 are available for this purpose for fiscal year 2017 from the New Mexico State Tourism Department; and
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque is desirous of accepting these funds; and
WHEREAS, indirect costs of $4,442 are required to support this project.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
SECTION 1. That upon approval, funds from the New Mexico State Tourism Department in the amount of $71,000 are hereby appropriated to the Solid Waste Management Department for a Litter Control and Beautification Grant in the Operating Grants Fund 265 for Fiscal Year 2017.
