Relating To Capital Projects; Creating An Indian School Road And Chelwood Road Safety Improvement Project And Appropriating Funds In The Transportation Infrastructure Tax Fund 341 (Harris)

body

RELATING TO CAPITAL PROJECTS; CREATING AN INDIAN SCHOOL ROAD AND CHELWOOD ROAD SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE TAX FUND 341.

WHEREAS, based on an analysis of the intersection of Indian School Road and Chelwood Road, it was noted that stop sign visibility could be improved, and that the vertical and horizontal shifts of the intersection could also be improved; and

WHEREAS, there have been three known crashes involving vehicles that after exiting the intersection in the southbound direction have left the road and crashed into yards and homes near the intersection; and it appears that speed and driving under the influence were the main contributors to the accidents; and

WHEREAS, the City can provide improvements to the intersection to enhance the safety of residents in the area; and

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City for this project to be completed quickly and to have the improvements done at a favorable cost.

BE IT RESOLVED BY COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:

Section 1.  The following project is hereby created and appropriated within the Transportation Infrastructure Tax Fund 341, Road Deficiencies Category:
