ADJUSTING FISCAL YEAR 2016 APPROPRIATIONS FOR ALBUQUERQUE POLICE OFFICER WAGE INCREASES.
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque has as one of its goals to enhance local law enforcement efforts thereby providing for the public safety and welfare; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of their dedication to this goal, the City wishes to compensate existing Police Officers at a level that is competitive with local and regional law enforcement agencies; and
WHEREAS, additional recurring revenue has been identified in the General Fund for Fiscal Year 2016; and
WHEREAS, funds within the Risk Management Fund are available for the purpose of settling a lawsuit with the Albuquerque Police Officers Association (APOA).
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
Section 1. That $843,000 is hereby reserved in the General Fund (110) in Fiscal Year 2016 for officer salary increases, subject to collective bargaining.
Section 2. That $102,000 is hereby reserved in the Aviation Operating Fund (611) in Fiscal Year 2016 for officer salary increases, subject to collective bargaining.
Section 3. An amount of up to $5,000,000 is hereby reserved in the Risk Management Fund (705) in Fiscal Year 2016 for settlement of the pending Albuquerque Police Officers Association lawsuit.
Section 4. That it will be the priority of the City Council to restore funding to the Risk Management Fund for claim reserves as additional revenue becomes available in the General Fund.
