CALLING FOR A COMPARATIVE SURVEY OF THE SALARIES OF ABQ RIDE MOTORCOACH OPERATORS AND SUNVAN CHAUFFEURS.
WHEREAS, The City of Albuquerque has as one of its goals to provide safe and affordable integrated transportation options that meet the public's needs; and
WHEREAS, The City's Transit Department, ABQ Ride, provides fixed route bus service throughout Albuquerque, para-transit service for the mobility impaired, connection routes to the NM Rail Runner and Albuquerque Sunport, and special events transportation; and
WHEREAS, ABQ Ride Motorcoach Operators and Sunvan Chauffeurs play an important role in the successful delivery of City transit services; and
WHEREAS, The City wishes to determine whether the salary of ABQ Ride Motorcoach Operators and Sunvan Chauffeurs is competitive with the drivers of other transit agencies within the City, state, and region.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
SECTION 1. The City Human Resources Department shall complete a comparative survey of Motorcoach Operator and Sunvan Chauffeur salaries to: (1) those of transit drivers from agencies in similar sized cities throughout the southwest region of the United States, and (2) those of other City department positions with similar job duties and qualifications, such as Solid Waste Collection Drivers. The survey shall include comparisons of base salary, retirement benefits, and other fringe benefits. A report on the findings of the survey will be submitted to the Mayor and City Council by April 31, 2015.
