DESIGNATING FISCAL YEAR 2015 GENERAL FUND APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE HEADING HOME PROGRAM. AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A SOCIAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH ALBUQUERQUE HEADING HOME FOR CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES FOR HEADING HOME CLIENTS.
WHEREAS, the Mayor of Albuquerque has declared the Albuquerque Heading Home Program as one of the most effective programs in providing housing and related services, including case management, to medically vulnerable homeless people; and
WHEREAS, the Albuquerque Heading Home Program has been providing housing and case management to Heading Homes clients for the past three years; and
WHEREAS, these services have been funded through a grant from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and the grant expires September 30, 2014; and
WHEREAS, funding for the continuation of the case management program for the Heading Home Program was not included in the FY/15 General Fund Budget; and
WHEREAS, without the case management services approximately 70 Heading Home clients will likely lose contact with services and ultimately may lose their housing.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
Section 1. That those funds in the amount of Three Hundred Seventy Five Thousand Dollars ($375,000) previously appropriated in C/S R-13-47, Exhibit A "Supportive Services to the Homeless/to be determined" is hereby designated to Heading Home for the purposes of providing case management and ...
