EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR CORNUCOPIA ADULT AND FAMILY SERVICES INTENT TO APPLY FOR FUNDING IN RESPONSE TO THE NEW MEXICO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION'S FFY 2016 APPLICATION UNDER SECTION 5310: ENHANCED MOBILITY OF SENIORS AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES TO MEET THE TRANSPORTATION NEEDS OF THE ELDERLY, FRAIL AND DISABLED PERSONS.
WHEREAS, Cornucopia Adult and Family Services, a non-profit organization, has been providing family-oriented services for elderly, frail and disabled persons since 1983; and
WHEREAS, clients served by Cornucopia have a variety of conditions, including, but not limited to, Alzheimer's, Dementia, Traumatic Brain Injury, Schizophrenia, Developmental Disabilities, Downs Syndrome, Cerebral palsy and Autism; and
WHEREAS, Cornucopia's Adult Day Habilitation Program serves 147 people daily; and
WHEREAS, the Adult Day Habilitation Program offers an array of off-site activities which requires accessible transportation for the clients; and
WHEREAS, Cornucopia will be submitting a grant application for the New Mexico Department of Transportation (FTA) FFY 2016 Application under Section 5310 requesting funding to acquire vans specifically crafted to accommodate wheel chairs with full motorized wheel chair lifts.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
