b
REQUESTING THE ADMINISTRATION TO CONDUCT AN EVALUATION OF COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE CITY'S WASHINGTON REPRESENTATIVE TO DETERMINE HOW IT COMPARES TO OTHER JURISDICTIONS.
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque has historically used the services of a lobbyist in Washington, D.C. to assist with furthering the City's federal program and to advise City leaders with regard to federal issues and funding; and
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque has retained the services of a lead Washington representative for over 20 years; and
WHEREAS, the City's contract with the current lobbyist will expire on June 30, 2011; and
WHEREAS, given the City's financial situation, it would be prudent to ensure that its costs are in line with other jurisdictions prior to entering into another contract.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
Section 1.  The Administration is requested to conduct an analysis of other jurisdictions to compare related expenses.
Section 2.  The Administration should provide its findings and present them to the City Intergovernmental and Legislative Relations Committee.
