C/S Establishing Policy Regarding a Fee Structure For Renting Space In City Owned Community Centers, Health and Social Service Centers and Senior Centers (Winter)

ESTABLISHING POLICY REGARDING A FEE STRUCTURE FOR RENTING SPACE IN CITY OWNED COMMUNITY CENTERS, HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICE CENTERS AND SENIOR CENTERS.
WHEREAS, the City owns and operates twenty-four Community Centers, four Health and Social Services Centers and six Senior/Fitness Centers, including Multi-Generational Centers (Centers), throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, the Centers were constructed with taxpayer generated revenue; and
WHEREAS, the City General Fund provides the money necessary to operate the Centers; and
WHEREAS, the Centers serve as a valuable resource for residents, designated 501(c) organizations, local individuals and organizations by providing neighborhood improvement, health, physical fitness, social, recreational, nutritional, educational and other human services as well as educational or recreational programs to participants for no charge or at a minimal cost; and
WHEREAS, fees may be charged for one-time or occasional events; and
WHEREAS, a consistent policy is needed regarding the fee structure for one-time and occasional events at Centers.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
Section 1. The Administration shall develop a fee structure for one-time use, inclusive of usage fees and damage deposits that shall be applied consistently according to “Category Type” substantially conforming with Exhibit A. It is understood the fee structure may be reasonably modified to adjust for fluctuations in the cost of operating Centers.
