Supporting The Incorporation of Valle De Atrisco Into A Municipality Upon An Election Approving The Incorporation (Benton, Sanchez)

SUPPORTING THE INCORPORATION OF VALLE DE ATRISCO INTO A MUNICIPALITY UPON AN ELECTION APPROVING THE INCORPORATION.
WHEREAS, Valle de Atrisco is an unincorporated area in the county of Bernalillo, in the state of New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, concerned citizens have joined together to form the Committee to Incorporate Valle de Atrisco; and
WHEREAS, the Rio Puerco River serves as the part of the western boundary from UPC (Bernalillo County Parcels) 200305209534810116 on the south to Interstate 40 on the north.  Interstate 40 serves as the northern boundary from the Rio Puerco on the east to Central Avenue on the west.  Central Avenue serves as part of the northern boundary from Interstate 40 on the west to the City of Albuquerque on the east.  The City of Albuquerque serves as part of the northern and eastern boundaries (except where Interstate 25 is west of the City of Albuquerque and around Bobby Foster Road then Interstate 25 serves as part of the Eastern boundary).  Isleta Indian Reservation serves as part of the southern boundary from the City of Albuquerque on the east to UPC 100804903203230105; and
WHEREAS, the proposed territory is not within the boundaries of an existing municipality; and
WHEREAS, pursuant Section 3-2-3 NMSA 1978, the proposed territory to incorporate is "urbanized territory" as, by definition, caused by the City of Albuquerque, and is also within a Class A county; and
WHEREAS, the committee to Incorporate Valle de Atrisco would like to continue the process to become an incorporated municipality.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
      If the incorporation of Valle de Atrisco (as herein described) is approved by the voters in an election in compliance with Chapter 3, Article 2 NMSA 1978, the City approves the incorporation.
