Authorizing an Agreement With Bernalillo County for the High School Dropout Prevention Program; Providing an Appropriation to the Department of Family and Community Services (Sanchez)

AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH BERNALILLO COUNTY AND PROVIDING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY AND COMMUNITY SERVICES FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL DROPOUT PREVENTION PROGRAM.

      WHEREAS, the City has determined that the High School Dropout Prevention Program provides effective support services to at-risk youth in the Albuquerque Public Schools; and

      WHEREAS, Bernalillo County desires to partner with the City of Albuquerque in providing these services and has made additional financial resources available for them; and

      WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque already provides Six Hundred Thousand Dollars ($600,000) toward this effort.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:

      Section 1.  That the attached agreement between Bernalillo County and the City of Albuquerque is hereby approved.

      Section 2.  That the Mayor is further authorized to execute an agreement with Bernalillo County for said activities and do all things necessary and proper to implement the program.  

Section 3.  That funds in the amount of Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000), are hereby appropriated to the Department of Family and Community Services in the Partner with Public Education Program of the General Fund (110) for Fiscal Year 2007 for the High School Dropout Prevention Program.
