Approving And Authorizing The Mayor To Execute A Grant Agreement With The Office Of National Drug Control Policy And Providing For An Appropriation To The City Of Albuquerque, Police Department (Gibson)

APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE OFFICE OF NATIONAL DRUG CONTROL POLICY AND PROVIDING FOR AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE, POLICE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque has as one of its goals to enhance local law enforcement efforts thereby providing for the public safety and welfare; and
WHEREAS, the Albuquerque Police Department will utilize this grant to continue a multi-agency approach to combat drug trafficking throughout Region One; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds in the amount of $693,213 will be used for personnel costs, supplies, and operational costs related to narcotics investigations; and
WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque is desirous of accepting these funds for which indirect costs of $15,445 are necessary to support this grant and are available in the FY/15 Transfer to Operating Grants Fund Program in the General Fund.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE:
Section 1. That the attached grant agreement is hereby made a part of this resolution, is hereby approved and its submission and filing with the appropriate official or Office of National Drug Control Policy, is in all respects approved.
Section 2. That upon approval, funds in the amount of $693,213 from the Office of National Drug Control Policy and indirect costs of $15,445 from the Fiscal Year 2015 Transfer to Operating Grants Fund Program in the General Fund are hereby appropriated to the Albuquerque Police Department for a 2014 High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Grant in the Operating ...
